German State, Brunswick Genuine« Back1852 German State, Brunswick, #1, Genuine(1.) None of the letters in the upper or lower banners touch each other. (2.) There are 19 vertical lines of shading in the central oval to the left of the cross at the top of the crown. (3.) There are 17 lines to the right of the cross. (4.) Do not count the short line attached to the outline of the central oval at the left. (5.) Many of the vertical lines of shading in the genuine stamp are broken or not completely drawn. (6.) The piece of ground upon which the horse is standing does not touch the central oval at either end. (7.) The point of the horse's nose comes between the 6th and 7th lines from the left. (8.) The tail ends between the 1st and 2nd vertical lines on the right. (9.) There are 18 short vertical lines below the ground. (10.) The outline around the central oval has a double line from about the level of the horse's eyes, then clockwise over the top of the crown to the tip of the horse's tail. German State, Brunswick ForgeryForgery of Brunswick #1, Earee First Forgery(1.) "RA" of Braunschweig are joined at the bottom. (2.) "HWE " of Braunschweig are joined at the top. (3.) 20 vertical lines of shading to the left of the cross at the top of the crown. The genuine has 19. (4.) 18 vertical lines to the right of the cross. The genuine has 17. (5.) All the vertical lines of this forgery are more completely drawn than on the genuine. (6.) 20 short vertical lines below the ground upon which the horse is standing, none of which break through to the ground above. The genuine has only 18. (7.) The piece of ground touches the oval on the right, but not on the left. (8.) The nose ends at the 7th vertical line from the left. (9.) The tail touches the 1st vertical line at the right. (10.) Exp: do. Ref: Rev. Earee. Second Forgery of Brunswick #1, Of unknown origin(1.) "RA" of Braunschweig touch. (2.) "HW" of Braunschweig also touch. (3.) 17 vertical lines of shading to the left of the cross. The genuine has 19. (4.) 17 vertical lines of shading also to the right of the cross. The genuine also has 17. (5.) All the vertical lines on this forgery as well as the one above are more completely drawn than on the genuine. (6.)The piece of ground upon which the horse stands touches the central oval at both ends. (7.) There are 19 short vertical lines of shading below the ground instead of 18, none of which break through to the ground above. (8.) The cross does not touch the oval. (9.) The horse's nose touches the 6th line from the left. (10.) The tail reaches only to the third line from the right. (11.) The outline around the central oval on this forgery has a double line from under the horse's front feet, clockwise over the top of the crown to the tip of the tail. From there it is mostly solid, except for a portion under the horse's back feet, continuing under the horse to the front feet and point of beginning. (12.) Exp: do. Ref: Rev. Earee. |
